Oregon Receives More than $5 Million for Green Jobs

Eugene, Salem, Portland and the Rogue Valley all stand to benefit as Oregon is set to receive a $5.38 million State Energy Sector Partnership and Training Grant through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Oregon’s Green Jobs Council will develop strategies to put 800 program participants into jobs across the state. The workers could be hired in the renewable electric power, sustainable manufacturing, and energy efficiency industries.

Oregon Gov. Ted Kulongoski said the money will prepare workers for careers in energy efficiency-related fields.

“Oregon has been a leader in developing green jobs across the state and these funds will help put Oregonians in every corner of the state to work in these important industries,” Kulongoski said in a statement.
